Actually going through this right now. My output is pretty low for my one pump a day (2.5 oz), but plan to go from 15 min pumping to 10 for a few days, then 5, then stop completely. That’s what I did with my first
I stopped pumping and breastfeeding in general super early due to getting mastitis. I took one dose of sudafed and was dried up in a day.
You just reduce the time little by little over the course of two weeks. If your pump session is 20 mins, go down to 18 mins 2 days later, then 16 two days after that, and so on till you’re done.
Congrats on being done with your pumping journey- it will feel freeing !
I took a week or two to wean completely one i was down to one pump. What length of time and ounces are you at?
You just want to gradually reduce both. Drop from 15 min to 10 min, stay there for 2-3 days. Then drop to 5 min and stay there for 2-3 days. If you still get a good amount of milk even in just 5 min, start pumping for ounces and reduce by an ounce every few days.
If you’re getting less than an ounce with only one pump a day take a Sudafed and that should dry you up. Also frozen cabbage leaves!
I’m also weaning, I’m down to two 5min pumps a day.
I took a couple of weeks of just pumping once a day and then one day I just stopped and hoped for the best. I still had milk for a few more weeks (like I could squeeze and milk would still come out) so I didn’t dry up immediately but eventually it just stopped
Once I went to one pump a day I dropped after a week. I did get breast pain two weeks after that and had to do one last pump (got 2 oz!!) and haven’t pumped since then.
