I have a PhD with 5 years of industrial experience and come from a more reputed and BIGGER company than the company I was interviewing with (not precision health) and i had a similar experience. I told them that I signed a NDA so I cannot show the data/work that I do at my current company but I can talk about my skills, yet they made it seem like I’m not qualified. I graciously maintained decorum during the interview but then i put in them in their place during the “do you have any questions for us” portion as I knew I had to stand up for myself. Asked them questions about their office/equipment/logistics/sample analysis etc which they didn’t have an satisfactory answers to as they were a startup and then for every answer, I told them where my company is at and how things were done in my company which is a MNC. Needless to say, In not to many words, I made them realize where they are at, where I’m coming from and that they should be happy I even entertained them in the first place.
Didn’t get the job obviously but it was a fun experience.
There is no excuse for not treating a job candidate with respect. We all have different experiences and everyone has to go through a learning curve. Stand up for yourself and don’t let any interview experience make you feel small.
I agree. Some employers act as if 10 years of experience for someone to be good at their job. I have seen many executives talk down to people beneath them
