McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Completely different animals, depending on speciality. For general brand, FTI is much much less known than the Big 4 or Accenture (but also smaller w 8000 people globally vs hundreds of thousands so not unexpected). But in industries and specialty areas where it is focused FTI is generally considered a stronger expert firm with premium pricing, whereas the others are more generalist or even body shops.
Completely agree with this. Don’t worry about brand - worry about the quality of experience, comp, training, speciality area, etc.

FTI = Far Too Irrelevant
It depends. If you’re going to general management consulting it’s pretty low. If you’re going to FTI for restructuring it’s one of the best.
Go there knowing what you want out of the job. It’s less structured and known in the market for specific areas including RX. Corp Fin is okay but it’s all group dependent and super political — almost childish way.
