You HAVE TO ASK. Recruiters do this all the time. It doesn’t matter what you look like, it looks like you are serious about your career and it’s projection. If you applied for a Senior role, make sure they give it to you or it’s a straight no.
Happened to a friend that came into my group at another company, she applied for a role as Principal and they tried to give her a Senior Con offer instead. She clarified it - thank God because that’s a 4 year gap.
TLDR: don’t play games with your career and don’t be shy about asking for what is fair. Get the title and salary you were marketed.
ask them directly and provide the reasoning that depending on the role it will give you an idea on the expected job responsibilities at the level and wanted to make sure that the firm’s expectation is aligned to what you are expected to do - just my opinion.
