In your professional opinion, does Bob Iger’s salary, which is 1,424 times higher than the median Disney employee, present a morale or other risk for Disney?
Does Iger’s compensation represent a fair deal for the CEO who has overseen the tripling of Disney’s stock price?
This controversy was sparked over the weekend by a viral Twitter thread from Roy Disney’s granddaughter, which you can read about here:

i bet if bob iger or jamie dimon retired right now, their annual comp would seem like a huge bargain compared to the impact on market value.
what these guys make is a rounding error relative to their firms’ profits and investments. disney spends >$5 billion in annual capex, for example. 60 million for the best guy possible to allocate this money seems fine to me
people love to dress up brainless jealousy to look like public policy
Easy for Abigail Disney to say from her $500m mountain...
Of course! He did it all by himself, no help from the cast and crew. So all that shareholder value is due to him alone.
I don’t think it’s a fair comparison when a lot of Disney employees are low skill. I’m more interested in a conversation about Corbat’s compensation disparity which was brought up during the congressional hearings.
People are mad when it’s not an apples to apples comparison and think everyone should be paid like CEOs. Few get the risk and sacrifice to get there.
Saw my grandfather put in countless hours at a major firm in a similar role then when he left for another company work 90+ a week getting it to where it was before he sold it. He’s 79 and still works 60 hours.
It takes stones that not many have.
What risk and sacrifice are you talking about here?
How many DIS cast members are working second jobs and total 80 hour weeks to earn enough to pay their bills. How many have 3 months expenses in savings to cover an unexpected bill, how many have enough in savings to cover repairing their car from a major expense.
Iger falls there is a Doc McScrooge pile of bank notes to soften his landing. Yes he works hard that is not the question. The question is do the cast members get a living wage?
