We just said goodbye to a 23 year old who died of COVID. Young people are not protected from this, important to remember

:( That's rough. Definitely important to keep in mind as younger folks start going back out into their normal daily lives

I want to go to the movies. More specifically, I want to eat theater popcorn on site. But I don't think it will be as fun if I'll be worried about coronavirus all the time while there. This is a big drama for me.

For the women in Chicago. Are there any cool spots you feel comfortable going on your own? Broke up during Covid and I realize I never go to bars or restaurants any more because I’m so used to not being on my own. I can drag friends with me but damnit I’m an adult. lol. I should be able to do this on my own!

It's been +5 months and my Covid brain fog is still raging.

My covid brain fog is so great that now I have three bottles of foundation and three boxes of hair dye 🥲

I couldn't remember whether I bought them or even kept them. The place was "so safe" that my brain just forgot about it.

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year.
Have a wonderful school year!!
God Bless All❤️

Has anyone had extended periods of unemployment and can speak to ways in which to stay confident? Worked for an ent. company that let go a large number of employees back in July due to Covid. I’ve had many first interviews and one or two second interviews. Yet nothing is sticking. I handled the extra time well in the summer when I picked up cycling - yet now everything feels so bleak. Some days I forget I’m an attorney and the hard journey it took to get to where I am. I turn 30 end of December

Caught Covid a few days after successful IVF even after being extremely careful. I had fever for 18 hours and then it went away. Now this wait to know if everything is fine with embryo is brutal. Doctor has asked me not to visit clinic for any testing for 14 days. Anyone gone through similar experience?

I'm a bankruptcy pro who excels at generating clients for firms in a one call close process. Given Covid-19 there is going to be a spike in business. Is there any firm out there who wants to build a consumer bankruptcy division looking for a Director of Operations who can build a practice group from start to end?

I have an H1b which I received in 2019 and was valid till august2021, due to covid I wasn't able to travel and then I switched to another firm last year in November. If I get visa transfer, will it provide me a validity back as I haven't used any on site time on that visa.

TIA

I am moving to Bangalore the next weekend, by 17th July. Seems there is a slight increase in Covid cases, would it be better to come now or should I ask my manager to allow me to come to office after some weeks once everything seems fine?

What are some things you think will change about our society post-COVID? I’ll start: remote work will be a lot more the norm and orgs that aren’t used to this format will be more accepting of it!

⚠️Toxicity Alert ⚠️

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

When COVID hit, people who side-eyed or laughed at me for being a doomsday prepper weren’t side-eyeing or laughing anymore.

US traveling through UK covid restrictions

I am traveling to Greece next week and have a 17hr layover in London. My partner is not vaccinated for a genetic health reasons. Can we leave the airport during our layover if we have negative covid tests? The info online is mixed. Thank you!

is it just me or is the SPAC/IPO growth making everyone in PA miserable? seems like regular engagement teams are being thinned out cuz many people are getting “great learning opportunities” from these SPACs. covid has also accelerated the number of people quitting so every team is becoming understaffed. revenue is booming for PA, but i feel like no one is caring about physical/mental health and i think it’s a huge issue. these mental health awareness emails we get are pointless imo.

For the last 5 years, I’ve worked at an insurance defense firm and I have gained a ton of overall litigation experience. I have 1st chaired and second chaired over 17 cases. (Mostly auto and premises work) However, I’ve realized that I do not want to try cases anymore and don’t want to stay in insurance defense. I currently make $150,000.00 per year and I’m interested in switching areas of law while still making my same salary. What are some good areas of law to consider post insurance defense?

I’m interviewing for a non-technical, mid-senior level role at Stripe. I know culture is really important to them. To that point, I have a half-dozen or so friends that work there, and I’m wondering how it would be perceived if I asked them to formally or informally advocate to the hiring team on my behalf? I know efforts like this can rub people the wrong way, so I just wanna be careful before deploying them. Anyone who works there or knows them able to comment on this?
