I had a call with a recruiter at BCG towards the end of last week. I went to check the job description for the role on the careers website and it’s not there anymore. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

How do you answer the “industry experience” question when talking to a potential client when you, specifically, don’t have experience working with their industry?

Can anyone from McKinsey or with previous experience at Mckinsey give any explanation as to why there are so many scandals compared to BCG? My friend has offers at both firms and is concerned about culture with taking McKinsey, in large part due to consistent scandals. We're not really sure as to the reasons why it's so consistent with McKinsey.
