Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?
Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express

At Amazon, what is the difference between a Program Manager and Technical Program Manager? It looks like the Technical one gets paid about 25% more but not sure what roles/responsibilities they do differently. Amazon

THERE ARE A MILLION REASONS WHY SOMEONE WOULD LEAVE A JOB.
BSHAHAHAHAHAHA AGREED
I think a lot of people are taking jobs. They don’t necessarily want now in order to have a stop gap till they get one they really want.
I do too and that is why I am being really careful with hiring.
Did they explain why they quit after 3 minths?
Just ask why the role is available - and push them for why the person quit. It might be a culture fit, it might be unreasonable expectations that the company has learnt from.
Can you find the previous person on LinkedIn? It’s always good to get insight from former/current employees. As others have said there are a million reasons people quit but it would concern me a little.
When I was hired my employer made the outgoing SMM train me the first 2 weeks. During that time she told me she was there for about 3 months and quit because the CMO is on leave and the CEO isn’t hiring anyone to temporarily take her position, so it was left to her (the former SMM) to take over the CMO’s duties. The CEO never told me this, so consider emailing or messaging the former manager to see if they left due to work culture
If the interview process is reasonable (3 interviews without free work for example), go through with it and address that question if you get an offer. It could be a concern, but you want to know why when they've already decided they're investing in you. Then be sure to ask to speak to their peers that were not part of the interview process, don't just ask the HR person or hiring manager to explain it.
