Haven’t worked at either. Interviewed for both. If it helps, Marcom is Apple’s in-house team. They do decent work. I think they might have been part of the latest Severance stunt and Lumon work.
But, if the type of work you’d like to do is more like their latest privacy commercials, you want to be at MAL. Though, tbh, they’ve just started hiring juniors. Historically, they tended to hire more senior creatives.
So, the learning curve there for you might be a bit more steep. Because more would be expected of you. That said, it’d be a great place to learn and grow. Plus, you could pretty much go anywhere you wanted after that.
You should have a strong understanding of the Apple brand and what they stand for. Marcom does a lot of great work - like Leon, The Last Voice, The Greatest, Severance (like ACD1 said), Super Bowl, etc. Great place to be and pays better / you’ll have better WLB. But if you want to experience agency life, MAL is a good place to learn / start at. Many MAL people go to Marcom but very rare the other way around I think (hard to give up the upsides, esp when they already do great work there)
No there are also marcom teams in culver city (LA)
Know their TOV really really well and come with a strong perspective about what it is and how to use it.
