Vacation days are WAY easier to get than money especially since you probably won’t take em.
Yep. I just said my former job gave me an extra week from the one proposed in my original offer. Got the ok within the hour. It's easier to approve than money
And if they won't give you more PTO/vaca days, figure out what they're worth monetarily and increase your asking salary figure by that much.
My brother-in-law is in HR and monetizes EVERY benefit when he negotiates his own salary & benefits (what he's leaving, and what's being offered). He's walked away from several offers after negotiations haven't netted him enough of a positive balance.
Pull out the calculator and negotiate hard-it's worth it in the end. Next time I move, I'm on that shit.
My former agency gave me 3 weeks PTO + 12 holidays and then some. When negotiating for my new position I asked to match PTO; I was offered more money instead. The salary increase was equal in value to an additional PTO week.
I know of people who did, they mention that their former employer is offering 3 weeks pto as standard vs 2 weeks at the new employer. You just have to ask if it's possible to match on vacation days. They rather give more Vacation days than more money. Cheap asses. Also more important is the hr manager you're working with. If they are in dire need to hire, they are willing to keep you if are the best out of their pool, assuming you're already done with all rounds of interviews.
I always negotiate for more money. You never get to take vacation days. Besides, you need the money to take a vacation.
Yes.
It's a sham, if it's anything over 3 weeks you probably won't be able to take them or you'll be made to feel really guilty for taking them. Agree go for monetary.
