Product Management at a large bank vs Business Analytics/S&O for FAANG? Recently started in the former role, but have interview calls for the latter just come up in my mailbox. Similar comp when adjusted for the different job locations. Can anyone help me with the Pros and Cons please. I know the roles are different, and so are the industries, need to understand difference career paths and difference in corporate cultures. JPMorgan Chase Google LinkedIn Citi

More recently in interviews, I have really emphasized how I have always taken more of an empathetic approach to mentoring juniors. It’s been especially helpful over the past year.
Examples of actions from even pre-pandemic life: always double-checking with my jr teams that they don’t need anything before I leave the office (not just something like files, but also, do they want me to order them coffee or dinner?, etc) or sending stress care packages during the pandemic so they can enjoy snacks or face masks or whatever.
Leading creative is always tricky to explain when you don’t officially have it, but even if you only owned a part of the campaign, play it up. “Sure it may have only been a social series, but I concepted the shots, ran the shoot, stepped in to style things, blah blah, all while overseeing my jr team who was concurrently working on display banners.”

Just because you may not have “official reports” doesn’t mean you haven’t been given off-the-books managerial responsibilities. When I was a SC’r I was often put in the position of managing the mids and jrs and pitching to clients while the ACD handled more CD responsibilities.
Don’t be afraid of saying that. Your mindset shouldn’t be that you want a promotion. Your mindset should be that you DESERVE a promotion. Good luck! 👍

ACDs barely have direct reports these days. Agencies aren’t investing in that hierarchy anymore.
As ACD2 said, just talk up the managing duties you’ve already done.
