Idk about BAH, but it’s about 100k/yr lower than MBB and T2/Deloitte MBA hires…
Yes. Yes it is very low.
BAH pays undergrad at the C level 85k. You need to ask for more.
No. You’re fine. Spend your time developing technical skills, learning to present your point of view, speak and present in groups and join professional organizations. That will move you up quickly.
It's low. MBA hires from target schools at Deloitte start at $185k with 25k or 40k signing bonus depending on when they accept the offer.
Yes, that is a bit low, though not as low as everyone else is saying. What is your YOE? What job family?
A couple things to point out, though--people here are talking about commercial salaries, not fed sector salaries. Commercial salaries for MBA campus hires are significantly higher for commercial than fed at places like Deloitte, too.
All that said, if you just have a masters with no experience, while $85k is still on the lower end, it's not unspeakably low.
We pay differently by job family, too. You will likely get a different entry level offer if you're a SWE vs a BA vs a general consultant, and so on.
TL;DR: The commercial salaries people are throwing out here are irrelevant to fed consulting. $85k is not a horrifically low entry level starting offer in the fed market, though it depends on your YOE and job family.
If you can share more context about yourself and the offer, we can give better info.
Depends on where you got your MBA and what you’re doing.
IB or consulting from a top 20 you can make well over 200 year 1. If you’re at a non-profit from a no name school than 85 might be right.
That’s a typical salary for entry level (post undergrad) consultants. If you went straight from undergrad to MBA with no work experience then it makes sense you’d come in as entry level, but underpaid if you came in at the post MBA level.
What mba program, and how many years of work experience?
I’m also betting op went direct from UG to MBA
That’s low af. Hopefully you didn’t fiance the MBA with student loans because 85k is bachelor degree money
Yes.
Mid market starts undergrads at 85k+
I think you need to be honest with yourself like most others have pointed out - pedigree and experience matter.
BAH is a reputable firm though so 2-3 years can propel your career trajectory and income. Once again, depending on sector as one has pointed out but you have optionality once you’re in the firm and do good work.
Low for an SC generally speaking at Booz Allen
