Hi Fishes,
Does Deloitte USI have any cool down period, if you apply and do not get any response from the company? I had previously applied in a role, but didn't hear back from them. So, I'm planning to try to apply via referral this time and I'm wondering if I should use the same e-mail ID or a different one! Deloitte USI

Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.
Hey guys. I have an interview with EY Parthenon M&A Finance coming up. My recruiter said it will be an interview to assess my M&A/F&A Skills. Is that just a long winded way to say a case interview? Also does anyone have any tips on the interview process? Financial analyst here with experience in ERP implementation and working for the consulting line of business for my current company. Might get you into Deloitte if you can get into Harvard.. maybe..
it depends.... if you work at McKinsey you should have known this answer was coming 🙂
HSW yes. M7 maybe. Anything below no.
Another way to look at this: how much will a 2 year hiatus impact your long term earnings? In the grand scheme of things it’s a drop in the bucket for 2 years of priceless memories + a wide network (sure you have your undergrad network. The MBA 2x it). By looking at it just in the view of the 2 year opportunity cost it’s a bit short sighted
Folks who went to MBA will always tell you why they went, and folks who didn’t will always justify why they didn’t. Both will be biased because they want to prove to themselves they made the right decision. (As you can tell I got my MBA 🙂)
I hear you. The time horizon I’m looking at is not 3 or even 5 years. I’m talking 10+ years when everybody becomes partner (or equivalent level at another org). Sure, going to get the MBA means your BA peer is now a senior EM (or even AP) by the time you return to the firm. But in 10-15 years? Pretty much a wash. The person spent toiling away 10 years consecutively had no real break and you can argue that MBA memories are priceless in a lifetime.
It depends on what you want to use the MBA for. Don’t get an MBA just to get one.
If you want to pivot to a new industry- yes
If you want to get promoted or get a pay bump quicker, (analysts to senior consultants or equal for ex.) Yes
If you want to take a 2 yr break from consultation(yes people do this.) yes
If you can identify a tangible reason/benefit that will offset the sacrifice then go for it.
I would say no. Do a one year Masters in computer science or something like that instead.
What do you want or expect from the MBA? Network, career change, education, fun time, travel, friends, an SO, branding. Then consider whether it's worth the money and time for you.
Depends on which Top 15 undergrad. For instance, I went to Vandy ( number 14 according to US News & World Reports) and loved every minute of it. Still, most of my classmates who were MBB out of undergrad still took the HSW route. It just gives you that extra pop if you didn’t get one of the good Ivy Leagues for undergrad.
It really depends what your goals are. I went to a top 10 UG and was at Bain but still went bc it worked for my career goals, FWIW

Might as well if you're sponsored. What's the downside?
2 years of lost income
Where did you do your undergrad?
Ouch. I went to W 😅
If they pay for it
Really depends on why you want to go.
