I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

Dilute burnout through the winter with PTO or go all in on exit apps? Curious to hear how others are thinking about job security (in the event of a stronger correction), building traction at a new job (when you won’t meet your leadership team in person for a year), and stagnant comp (at places like Deloitte who aren’t concerned about retention).

Do most people use the blur on zoom or does it just make it more obvious your background is atrocious?

Life/Career question. 11 years out of law school. Small (2 atty) firm focused on non-portable local practice (residential RE, wills/probate) in CT. Girlfriend is a final year resident and it's almost certain that her fellowship will take her/us out of state, likely CA.
Am I screwed if I move to another state with such CT-specific experience, and no directly portable skills 11 years out? Not the right experience for corporate/govt.
Has anyone made a change like this?

What’s the career prospect for investor relations? Currently doing sales working for a mid-size institutional AM and may get an opp to jump to a small alternative shop as an IR. Firm is small so will work directly with the chief strategy and ops officer. Is it a good career path in general? Thinking to go to grad school in a year or two. 3 YOE
