Oh, hello team members!!

My resume got shortlisted for Operations Associate/Engineer-Amazon Managed Services role. I am an experienced AWS engineer with 5YOE.I feel like this role will be degrading in nature for me. Is it worth joining for this position. I would love to join Amazon based on my experience and skill set. But Not to some position which doesn't require AWS experience.

Yes - but to get into b4 deal advisory out of college is quite challenging (still probably not quite as hard as IB)
Coach
Thanks! I’m actually aiming to lateral to IB/B4/ project finance. I got a few second round interviews coming up for IB so I’m thinking it’s easier to lateral to B4 when u have a bit of experience already? (I’m currently in Credit Risk at a BB)
Deal advisory is significantly easier than any front office roles
Much more deeper accounting questions.
Like what's the impact of a company that can now Capitalize R&D costs instead of directly expensing them.
How would this effect the three financial statements, and valuation of the entity.
While on the surface these questions seem really easy, they are also much harder when you're nervous like me.
As a fresh campus hire for deal advisory/FDD can confirm and it’s not even close.
I’ve gotten as far as a BB IB superday during undergrad - applied w/ having ‘incoming B4 fdd intern’ on resume. Only had a week to prep technicals lol because I wasn’t expecting to get that far in the process. All 3 of my interviews asked technicals and hardball behaviorals.
B4 Deal advisory interview…. basically they wanna see if you can hold a conversation.
Also I went to a non-target state school where I wouldn’t even get a glance from most I-banks. B4 doesn’t care where you went
Ya B4 deal adv is easier. I’ve done both and strongly believe IB is a greater challenge and learning experience, but highly recommended if you’re up for that. Like Assoc1 said, the questions can get tough because there’s a never ending supply of finance/acct concepts, but it also depends what role you interview for
This is why many FDD roles would rather hire experienced candidates rather than straight out of college
