McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

We go NewCo side, that part is pretty simple. In the short to mid term I think it’s a pretty big positive. Lots of potential work I’ve had to turn away due to Independence restrictions that just go away after this. CPE goes away too.
Long term, there are questions. Will they make the needed investments to compete? Will they have cost pressure on stupid things like laptops and travel?
I personally think longer term we can make the right decisions that this is a big positive, but that’s far from a guarantee. But in the 2-3 year time frame that is most people’s tenure, I think it’s all positive despite some possible growing pains from being separate.
Very curiois how EYP is affected by the split since its already a separate entity
There will most likely still be some sort of brand distinction
EYP fish will try to paint it as positive because of the removal of independence issues - however there is no way around the reality that the less sexy consulting functions will dilute the Parthenon brand. It means more money for the entire company and partners. But it also means Parthenon is on its way to Accenture / Booz Allen Hamilton type of rep.
EY1 lol fair enough. We probably can’t be certain of that. But this Accenture is literally a perfect example of where EYP is heading. A firm with some prestigious arms, a lot of advisory functions, publicly traded etc.
Still will be a good place to work if you are in the legacy EYP functions. But let’s be real - the brand may take a hit
This is a stupid question maybe, but what exactly is EY P? Is it more expensive than regular EY?
