Hi Sharks, needs some insights. Currently am waiting for an official offer from Deloitte and Fractal as Data Scientist. I have 5 years of experience in Ai/ML, Python, Sql, AWS and GCP. Current CTC of 21 lakh (18+3). How much hike can I expect? Background of btech and MBA. Also among the two what would be a better choice, keeping aside the salary part? Deloitte Fractal

Gone are those days. Atleast 50+ companies have setup their First office in Kolkata in the last 2 years.
The Bengal Silicon Valley and Fintech Hub is coming up really fast. So job scenario has vastly improved.
If you consider the cost of living, it's much lower than any other metro city, so your savings will be much higher for the same earning.

Bengalis are warm and a bit emotional people who love enjoying their life. You will get to see the Biggest Indian festival celebrated here, Biggest Book Fair just got ended last week. Cricket and Football matches witness massive attendance, even the Film Festival is a grand affair. If you want to go for a weekend outing, go to Mandarmani/Digha or Santiniketan, Purulia or even Darjeeling. Options are plenty
If you're in TCS. Steer clear. Run...if you may. GenX heavy crowd (mid-management and above) and their cronies will make your life miserable. I was there for 4 months, applied for a transfer out and escaped. I don't know about the culture in other consulting or IT companies in Kolkata. This is a personal opinion. There could be folks in TCS who would say otherwise. But, if I were to return anytime to Kolkata, I wouldn't prefer coming back to TCS and it isn't an option either. They have stopped rehiring ex employees I've heard
All of these service companies are the same. Tbh Indian managers in general are extremely toxic. Most, if not all. I faced similar discrimination with Gen X at Accenture Bangalore which was full of South Indians. Lot of regionalism was there in my Account. If your luck is bad, you attract stupid supervisors no matter where ever you go.
