IB hands down. We don't bring in many experienced hires period, and those that we do generally come from industry, not other consulting backgrounds. If you're gonna come from consulting you better have deep deep expertise in a need area. Assuming you are pre MBA, that's a better bet than either
Honestly don't know how it happened. I don't want to paint the picture that it's impossible, and I'm not the authority on our experienced hire recruiting processes, just haven't seen it very often. a referral would probably help, as would an area of specific focus...applying through a referral for a specific job listed online as opposed to putting in an app as a generalist BA is probably the higher % play

Interesting. Thanks for the insight. So why IB then? For their expertise in financial services or skill set?
Partly. Mostly just because it's different. MBB firms would say we'd rather higher the best and brightest because we can teach them to be consultants our way. The consulting experience isn't really a value add in their eyes.
M1 - are you aware of any pre-MBA consulting to consulting transfers?
Anecdotally I know one BA who worked at OW and came over a year later, so I know it's hypothetically possible, but it doesn't happen often
@d1 I feel like I've seen it on LinkedIn enough? I've definitely seen managers lateral but that's practically post MBA and really pointless at that point personally.

I've been with Deloitte Cyber almost two years now out of Masters'. Looking to make a switch to MBB in the next six months. Networking my ass off and already preparing hard with Cases. I don't mind coming in even as an entry-level BA. I really wanna move towards MC and Strategy and McK has always been a dream. Deloitte made a lot of false promises in terms of the work I'd be doing and it had been extremely disappointing, they are also not willing to help me move to S&O. Been working my way out. Do you think I have a chance or anyone else that could help answer this for me?
