McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.
Why Bain over the other 2?
Bain & Company I received an offer to join Bain & Company for SF office but due to family reasons, I will have to stay in the South Bay. Given Bain’s local staffing model, it will be challenging for me to commute to SF and back. Is it possible to be transferred to the palo alto office/is that office fully functioning or does it mainly serve as a hub for partners and research?

Yes the cut off date is May 1st, and practically no mba hires are available to start then
I am sure they balance it off with higher joining bonus etc? Firms will try to keep first year comp same, else they will lose out on talent
That said BCG >>>>> McKinsey
BCG has higher bonuses. For first year post-MBA, the median bonus at McK is $18k for a total comp of $210k (192+18). At BCG, it’s 12.5% of base which amounts to $23.5k for a total comp of $213.5k (190+23.5). BCG is $3.5k higher in addition to paying pro-rated stub bonus for the first calendar year (McK stub is $0).
Yes, BCG and Bain do
This is not 100% representative for McK. Whether you receive a first year bonus is based on whether you started at the firm before or after the cutoff date
— signed an associate who did received a first year bonus
Both
when you say a prorated bonus, are you talking about for just the months worked in the fall? Ex: start in August/Sept and get a bonus in December for those few months?
Yes
