Is it safe to join Deloitte USI in the current scenario? I have another offer from JP Morgan. Which is better in terms of work culture, work life, job security etc. (Compensation offered by Deloitte is slightly more alongwith heavy joining bonus but keeping compensation aside, which is a better choice)?

I'm at Deloitte currently and feels like it is on the path to becoming a mass recruiter, which means the culture and perks will get diluted. Don't really know much about JPMC, but it for sure is an attractive brand name to have on your resume.

That phase is gone. You will get exposure to multiple industries and you can choose later which one you want to go to. JPMC is good but restricted to finance.

Join Deloitte - Diverse opportunities, different industries to learn about, different tech to grasp, bonuses, project awards. Highly doubt all this is there at JPMC.

Both are good brands. Go with higher package.

I'd say if you're in Finance, and you like being in Finance, then stick to JP Morgan, since that is one of the core companies in that industry. The financial growth there has the potential to be exponential in terms of both Fixed as well as Variable pay, especially if you follow up with a CFA. Money should have lesser consideration anyway when you're at an undergrad stage. The story changes in case you're a post grad, where the chance to reset your base pay goes down. You're the best judge, but take up Deloitte if there is a considerable difference in the money.

I'm in risk and financial advisory. So even in Deloitte my role will be limited to financial services.

I agree with D1, even I'm from Cyber Risk which is actually a part of RFA.

2nd year associate here. Has anyone made a jump from a boutique firm to big law? I found out that I’m a front runner for a gig with an Amlaw 100. I never thought I’d have this chance having graduated from an unranked law school and still being so junior. Even though the firm asked if I’d be willing to start as a 1st year given my lack of litigation experience, it’s still a monumental upgrade/ jump. I’m nervous about the culture shock and whether I’ll cut it. Could really use some advice!

A friend was told their firm will cut ties EOY if certain things don’t improve. Friend had planned to quit in the next year anyway (to start their own business), so there is no real incentive to bend over backwards. Friend’s goal is to keep the income for a little longer, but to minimize conflict / headaches. What’s the best move here? Wait until EOY and take the severance? Give 6 / 9 / 12 months’ notice now? Is there such a thing as too much notice? Could too much notice backfire?
