Move on, for the sake of your sanity. It’ll be worth it in the long run.
Create your own
Id give yourself a done date. “If I can’t find a full-time job in ____ then it’s time to switch plans.”
Two years is rough. Sorry to hear that. Are you keeping your book updated and fresh? Have you been applying to internships and fellowships just to get your foot in the door? Or in-house? Or, pharma? You probably have. But, just saying sometimes when the front door is closed, try the back one.
When I started in the late 90s it was similar. Then the dot com boom came. Then the bust. It is all cyclical, and the jobs come in spades, and then it gets hard to find one. Only four years ago was the “great resignation” when people left good jobs for a lot more pay, and agencies were left to deal with it. Now the pendulum swings back.
It will get better, but based on what I’ve seen, most people don’t have the staying power to stick around. We lose a lot of talent each time
it gets hard, but that also gives opportunity to those who can find a way to stay in the game.
(Hard to do with mortgages and kids tuition to be sure, but that is a different conversation about learning to live below your means and make smarter financial decisions in the good years, to be prepared for the lean ones.) 🐜
What have you been doing in the meantime?
