No, consulting more 90% of people is merely a stepping stone to other paths. You do you OP and best of luck!
If it’s your dream company you should go for it. Not worth waiting around in consulting to reach the magical exit point if you can get an offer you’re excited about now.
That industry is pretty cutthroat but I think that can present an opportunity to shine if you work your ass off. Good luck! Always been a dream of mine to make the move to that industry

Not MBB - strategy at a large tech focused firm (think Accenture Strategy, IBM’s strategy practice)
If I don’t like it as much and want to return to consulting, would it be a red flag for recruiters?

I think 8-9 months is enough. I know tons of people jumping successfully after 8-9 months
They just jump from 1 consulting firm to another, same service line. From Cap to EY, or from Deloitte to PWC kinda thing.
If you get an offer and the job you want who cares when you leave?
