Consulting Exit Opportunities

Is it too early to exit consulting after 8-9 months? I like consulting but saw a Strategy Associate position in my dream company so I applied and made it through 2 interviews so far. (Continued)

No, consulting more 90% of people is merely a stepping stone to other paths. You do you OP and best of luck!

If it’s your dream company you should go for it. Not worth waiting around in consulting to reach the magical exit point if you can get an offer you’re excited about now.

That industry is pretty cutthroat but I think that can present an opportunity to shine if you work your ass off. Good luck! Always been a dream of mine to make the move to that industry

Not MBB - strategy at a large tech focused firm (think Accenture Strategy, IBM’s strategy practice)

If I don’t like it as much and want to return to consulting, would it be a red flag for recruiters?

I think 8-9 months is enough. I know tons of people jumping successfully after 8-9 months

They just jump from 1 consulting firm to another, same service line. From Cap to EY, or from Deloitte to PWC kinda thing.

If you get an offer and the job you want who cares when you leave?

So apparently accenture is making people who are on the bench enroll into a mandatory customer service role even if you’re 100% utilized. Friend took 3 weeks of PTO and has been on the bench for a few days and he is being forced. Worst part? It’s Tues-Saturday.

Trump is spot on Re: Nord Stream II pipeline. If we are to help defend Germany, they should not be buying Russian oil/gas. Reliance on Russian energy puts them in a compromising position. Why should we bankroll Germany’s defense against Russia when German energy purchases are lining Russia’s pockets? Isn’t Russia the biggest geopolitical threat to Germany in the first place? Buy American LNG exports before turning towards a geopolitical adversary!
