Is it true PwC has the best WLB/culture in general ? There’s been a lot of hype in that category as of late, granted of course I’m sure it’s still a grind

PwC Deloitte EY Accenture KPMG

Big K is pretty chill

It works for me

Worked both PwC and KPMG.
WLB at KPMG is better.
Also - PwC pays on a cohort scale whereas KPMG pays based off experience.

like

right but on a cohort scale you max out for your level. I'm an A2 at KPMG making more then a SA1 at PwC

Work is to support the life. Life is not to support the work. I keep that in mind. For me anything more than 40 hrs a week is taking bite from my life. We make our own choices.

100% depends on group. At K I worked 80-100 hr weeks, at EY I work 30-50 hour weeks. I’ve heard the reverse in other groups and I know there are groups that plan to 60/wk.

Which level are you at K5?

PwC has a strong client base. Good from a branding standpoint, terrible from a WLB perspective.

likehelpful

Hmm I agree but I think of it as I have a chance to accelerate my career’s trajectory if I grind/suffer a few years with worse WLB and potentially get to my financial goals sooner so I can chill longer

Ig my point is that it depends on the individual especially their age

likesmart

This is not a bash btw lol just wanted to chime in as devils advocate

funny

Better WLB is fundamentally KPMG’s brand. Not in every single case, but true overall.

Lots of my old team went to PWC because they got offers for more pay (20%-30% more). They are all working at least 25% more hours than they were at EY and that’s in the non-busy season. It’s even worse when they hit busy season hours. Like someone said, it totally depends on the group. Try to get honest answers from the people working and don’t just trust the partners and interviewers you talk to!

From I’ve heard from consulting friends in tech I’d go EY/K P D A

I have great wlb

I average 45 hours per week at EY. Averaged about the same at ACN. It’s super dependent on group and project. I have heard Deloitte has the worst WLB/culture out of the Big4 plus ACN, but cannot confirm as I’ve never worked there. Slalom, Booz, and anything federal will give you the best WLB (but also lower pay)

Yea, the SM level is just never fun, from what I’ve heard. Partner responsibilities without the oay

like

Depends on the line of service, and client you’re on. I think in reality the big 4 are all similar.

Hi Fishes,
Need some positive suggestions.

I'm a data analyst(SQL, Python, ETL, Viz) with 6.5yrs exp at LTI(1 Month exp).
I left PWC AC after 6 months of joining because of the nature of dabba work I was getting(80% testing/documentation, 20% technical). Worked for 12+ hrs everyday and wanted to have some wlb.

Now in LTI, life is too peaceful and there's no technical work in current project. I'm getting thoughts like I'm wasting my skills by taking less tech projects at this stage of career.

After listening to the Mike Saylor podcast with Lex Friedman, it made me reconsider my notions I had about BTC layer 2. IMO ETH has thoroughly eaten BTC’s lunch from a development/dapp perspective. I’m 50/50 allocated in both because as Mike says BTC is durable digital property while I see ETH as the platform for application functionality. Would be interested to hear other’s takes. At the core of it, I’m not sure myself and others will ever want to spend BTC, even if fees were negligible.
