Hello, I'm looking at a position within Paypal. My question, what is the work life balance, expectation for office (hybrid/remote/other) and is the pay comparable to other companies? Reviewing Director and Senior Director roles on the business side. I have over 15 years experience with multiple degrees. TIA!
Hi Fishes
I want to share very bad experience I had at Mastercard
I was given offer by Mastercard in month of Dec The hike was less but looking at brand & other perks I accepted the offer & was looking forward to joining them.I got few offers & I went back to them for sole purpose of renegotiating CTC, to have a industry standard hike. They didn't reverted back for 2-3 days & just dropped a mail that they are revoking initial offer as well on grounds that they didn't like i gave other interview

“Recruiter… convince me”
Recruiter is looking for himself to place you asap, get his $, and go to the next associate he can “convince”.
A good recruiter is someone who provides you options and answers any questions you have on those options. Not someone who gives you one path and tries to lead you there.
Definitely a lot closer, on average, than in recent years until you can get into a manager+ role in industry
It depends. I had manager friends leave for tax jobs in the Bay Area whose industry base is either the same (or even lower when they’re manager 2 or 3’s), but they have SBC so total comp ends up being more. They work about half as much as they did before, so they consider it a win with more money and actual WLB. Before the pandemic the salary difference was pretty drastic.
Yep. Totally agreed. The big difference is WLB, annual bonus and stock options like RSU. If they don't offer, then there is no point of moving into industry. Industry jobs are generally boring.
Recruiter is not blowing smoke up your a$$. Industry salaries have not been adjusted for the current market……yet. It will probably take 2 years until they realize they aren’t attracting the talent from PA they want.
I just left EY and got a huge increase. DM me if you are interested in moving to a smaller consulting firm… the hours are nothing compared to EY.
Inflated isn’t the right word. PA salaries had previously been very depressed compared to industry, so 3-4 years ago a 50% pay increase leaving as a senior was very normal. Pay parity is now much better as PA has been forced to offer salaries comparable to industry. As such, a senior leaving now is going to be much more of a lateral move salary wise.
This. PA was hemorrhaging people over the past year and had to raise salaries (but not very much). I still think inflation and other market forces have not fully played out. I expect to see further turnover in the next year as more people leave PA for WLB even if the money is the same or less.
I wouldn’t trust a recruiter regardless. You should get a bump in this market. You just may not see increases in lock step every year like you do in PA.

The change is definitely less. For some roles that 10% could be reasonable particularly with the downturn
