I have worked in the Pharma and Biotech industry for over ten years. They are THE devil—only out for profit and could care less about the work/life balance of their employees. My advice is to stay put where you are. The grass is not always greener.
It really depends on your work function and the company you join. Not all companies are equal. I left a public sector job for pharma 4 years ago. I make 3x my former salary, have many more options for advancement and development, and I am much happier. I have an excellent work life balance, but I have strong boundaries and a good manager/team.
Depends on what the role is you’re going into - is it home office or field?
What is your current work schedule and what would be the new role?
Its a whole new animal. Depending on the role, you may end up working same long hours. Probably less stressful than dealing with patients, but stiil, the pressure is there.
I jumped from the hospital to the promotion side and have never regretted it
