Is it worth to be a solutions consultant at Google from a data scientist role?

Sounds like a potentially poor fit from a roles and responsibilities point of view. You are not only giving up the DS title, but maybe more importantly taking on different type of work, and sounds like work that’s less desirable to you. If you want to get into Google and then transfer to a DS or product analyst role, this may be worth considering. I’m assuming TC is good even though base is lower, which is normal.

Thank you for your advice. Definitely will do. You sound like a Google recruiter!

Which one has better upside? At google you can try transferring after a year. What are your upside chances in one year at your current place?

The only thing I can think of is a promotion ie from DS to Sr. DS, that can be earned with a potential Google offer. If I am going for that route, I will continue pursuing a DS path... Otherwise, not really any development recently since the company is very laidback

As you see, i am at a mediocre company working as a data scientist, and for some complex reason I cleared all of interviews for solutions consultant position at Google (gTech). I heard a lot of mixed things about this position. Basically, this is a lamed project manager role... I wonder if the position is worth of giving up data scientist title? My current base is actually 20k higher than the estimated base for solutions consultant according to my recruiter...

I did not, and can not, see that you are at a mediocre company.

Hi all - I’m working as a Jr AE at a remote agency. Before full-time at this agency, I interned there for 2 years and often did pro-bono work. I love my company so much, but I often feel stuck when it comes to salary and growth. The salary is minimum wage and every time I ask about a raise they agree I need one but never get around to it. Today, I was offered a position at another agency as a remote AE with more than double my current salary. I didn’t seek this job out but don’t know what to do.

I posted in the Healthcare bowl but didn’t get quality responses. PE is notorious for being difficult to break into unless you’re IB. However, there are success stories of consultants making it. Healthcare consulting is lucrative because it requires a very niche knowledge base that is honestly rather difficult to acquire. I’m wondering if that niche knowledge base would make it easier to exit to a healthcare-focused PE firm. Thoughts? Also, general tips for moving to PE would be helpful!

I’m new to the firm. My third project my manager was very hands off. He’s wants to have a discussion with me about my performance. He did not give me any support to work with; even when I asked! A client based in Japan had sent us a list of some Japanese texts and their English translations at our request which we needed. SM: Copy all the Japanese texts and their translations from document that client sent into a new document and send it back to client (to whom it came from) and ask them if they are correct. Me: Why are we doing that? SM: Just to ensure that we have validation in an email that client sent these translations to us. Me: Facepalm 🤦🏻‍♂️

My experience has been good in terms of work life balance, autonomy, and culture. My only real issue is my compensation. I was happy with it at first, but with the workload and expectations I'm feeling undervalued. My base is 82k, 5k signing bonus, no annual bonuses or anything. Im wondering if I should start looking elsewhere or if I'm just getting greedy
