Hi guys, Now VMware is offering me a 35% percent hike of what I am earning at DellEmc. I just completed one year at DellEmc. Total 2.7YOE But I don't like to go out of Dell, due to some personal commitments I am planning to switch.
Is it a good time to switch?
Can I talk with my manager ?
Are they able to hike the salary of what VMware is offering? Please suggest me.

As you see, i am at a mediocre company working as a data scientist, and for some complex reason I cleared all of interviews for solutions consultant position at Google (gTech). I heard a lot of mixed things about this position. Basically, this is a lamed project manager role... I wonder if the position is worth of giving up data scientist title? My current base is actually 20k higher than the estimated base for solutions consultant according to my recruiter...
I did not, and can not, see that you are at a mediocre company.
Sounds like a potentially poor fit from a roles and responsibilities point of view. You are not only giving up the DS title, but maybe more importantly taking on different type of work, and sounds like work that’s less desirable to you. If you want to get into Google and then transfer to a DS or product analyst role, this may be worth considering. I’m assuming TC is good even though base is lower, which is normal.

Thank you for your advice. Definitely will do. You sound like a Google recruiter!
Which one has better upside? At google you can try transferring after a year.
What are your upside chances in one year at your current place?

The only thing I can think of is a promotion ie from DS to Sr. DS, that can be earned with a potential Google offer. If I am going for that route, I will continue pursuing a DS path... Otherwise, not really any development recently since the company is very laidback
