Is my manager being petty - tomorrow is my last day, he has been rude about me leaving. In today’s meeting, he asked the team to introduce ourselves to the new team. Purposely skipped me “did I miss anyone?” I didn’t say anything. He never once informed the rest of the team that I am leaving either.

I mean that definitely feels petty but idk if it really is. Like, you're leaving tomorrow so I don't see the point of introducing yourself and maybe he assumed you'd already told everyone you're leaving so that's why he didn't inform your team. In my head I just wonder if it's worth even thinking about since again, you're leaving after tomorrow.

It’s not worth overthinking, but I am an over thinker sadly. It has just not been a great experience with this manager. He makes my blood boil. But then again, it is not worth it

Do inform this to HR in exit interview

Thank you 😊

Petty and funny at the same time. I am sorry that I find it funny but it's such a relief knowing that you'll be leaving the place. Just smile, now that you know how petty she can get and you marked yourself safe from experiencing more of it.

Not even making mention of you in the meeting - even a cursory "This is Assistant Vice President, she's leaving us unfortunately" - seems really petty to me. He can be upset or stressed that you're leaving while still being courteous. Purposefully choosing not to do so makes him sound like an unprofessional clown. Good riddance and good luck in the new role OP!

That's so juvenile it's almost funny. Nothing says "I don't care" more than acting like a petulant child 🙄

Petty as can be :/
People are weird but don’t sweat it too much - this is his insecurity, not you. I’d be petty right back and include all those people on my farewell note “although I haven’t had the opportunity to work with some of you for long, please keep in touch! I wish you the best of luck”

I take pride in my kill em with kindness routine. I left a handwritten note for a particularly thorny character in a prior role and made sure other folks knew so if she tried to bad mouth me after I left, she just looked bad

Congrats on the new role!

No include the people in the meeting!

DE&I is now a core leadership competency. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?
