With the travel credits (including uber) the fee is net $150. The 100,000 points (or 150,000 points towards travel) will pay for the card's fee in cash for 7 year's worth of payments. So you essentially have a net no fee credit card with a very high credit limit and 3% on travel and food (all those points are worth 1.5 on travel so 4.5% of food/travel transactions can be put towards travel)
^ at least definitely for first year due to sign-up bonus. after that it's up to spending habits
I just got my 100,000 bonus points #swag
The fee is only $150 if you net out the credits.
yes
^not unless you go to the bank in person, I know someone who just did that and got full 100k
The best card
Agree with PE1 also the pointsguy has a good article on it summarizing it
The only question is are you worth the chase sapphire reserve
The math is pretty easy and you work in finance...how have you not figured this out yet
rememebr though the 150 net balance is for the first two years. I.e.. the travel credit of 300 cash is for the first two years. so then you have to think what's the point to $ ratio. I recently bought a ticket for 700$ one way to India with 50k points. So 100k is about 1400$ So then it's about 3 yrs of the card fee
Heard 100 points deal recently stopped though
100k*
Yea now it's only 50k
Why do you say that PE1
plus it looks cool. worth it imo
I recently got one. To my knowledge the 100k promo ended in early March (walk ins only). If you got the 100k promo , I'd would say it's worth it at least for the first year, especially if you planned on making a large transaction in the first 3 months to secure your points. I basically have at least 2 roundtrip tix to anywhere in the world paid now. If you weren't able to score the promo , then I would say you evaluate the card value to you personally. Also , keep in mind your credit score as their are 3 apr ranges depending on your credit score , also read carefully before you sign , there are hefty fees for any balances leftover. They also follow a range system.
What about compared to the Amex platinum card? I heard they recently beefed up their benefits.
What's a good long term card that isn't a point gaming strategy? Want to get something more permanent after the CSR. I'll bet you money Chase ends up cutting the benefits at some point. Have heard good things about 2% cash back cards.
Amazon card gives you 5% cash back on all amazon purchases and is there anything you can't buy on amazon? Combined with prime it's like a 5% discount on life. Amex platinum is best for travel as you'll get 5x points on hotels and flights combined with SPG gold status, Hilton gold status, Delta sky club access and centurion lounge access. CSR is also a great card outside of gaming points just given the 3x points on restaurants and travel.
