Is the only way to make a lot of money in this field pulling a lot of OT? I have always wanted to work in law enforcement but the salaries just sound discouraging.

It really depends on where you work. The department I work for is in the upper tier in salaries. An officer will start in the low 60s and top out in 9 years at 100k not including other incentive pays & shift differential.

Honestly, just 5 years ago the salaries were a safe middle class salary.

Nowadays, it's a joke. The Wall Street journal, not some fly by night news agency, recently put out numbers that say that for a middle-class lifestyle in Texas you need to make over $200,000 a year. So... That's worth considering.

Look into federal law enforcement. Starting pay is over $70k and quickly doubles over a few years. Good luck!

Yes, it will be difficult to make a living wage in CO working for the state unless you obtain a managerial position. If OT is an option, take on as much as you can. This will also help increase your HAS by retirement.

Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

Hi fishes,

I received an offer from big 4 with 60% hike. My managers wants to retain and I asked them to match if you want me to be retained.
Now I got a call from GPM yesterday. He used harsh words like "being greedy" "selfish" etc and offered me 30% in the end.
I politely declined but he asked me to reconsider as he said "it would be unfair for the org for you to leave so soon."

Let me know a proper response.

Also what do you think of this behavior by GPM?

Why would a luxury watch brand make/sell connected or smart watches? What is the business reason for it? To me it just kills the brand value. For instance I was a big fan of Montblanc but after I see their smart watch line up I instantly devalued the brand in general. Same for Tag (tag is questionable anyways), or Breitling. What is your opinion on this topic?

Pretty sure the saga of the slave driven company has come to an end I’m the only HR person at this company. Friday I had full admin rights, and went to check email Saturday; account locked. Payroll/HRIS locked out. PEO service says no pending termination is on my file. Went to the office today to get my things just in case. Located in CA. Was about to report numerous violations too. All because I couldn’t solve 8 months of payroll issues in a day. 🫠 Good riddance, I’m getting a lawyer.
