I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I think a reporting role is much more transferable to other companies vs. a GL accounting role. In a GL senior accounting role, you’ll be an expert, but you’ll basically be an expert in your company’s ERP system
Big difference! One is preparing JEs and recons while the other preps financial statements, disclosures, and potentially technical accounting memos.
I think the true value of doing reporting would be at a public company IMO. Could be good experience if they will eventually IPO though
