Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

Doesn’t everyone know that the MBA is a checks for degrees scheme? You too can have an “exclusive” degree in return for $150k.
This might be true but companies still keep increasing pay for those degrees, so it still pays off

Nice flex, D-man
We already know you’re more exclusive than Harvard 🙃
haha set myself up for that one
I'll continue my quest of making people understand that Wharton is not exclusive.
Good school but pretty easy to get in to

Every time someone mentions MBA, I can’t help but think of this:

If this is true then I'm a little surprised by this. It's just a little hard to believe Wharton has an acceptance rate of 23%
Looking at some of the MBA graduates work, it would seem everyone gets accepted

It is precise. But the catch is that the applicants tend to be very competitive. So even if the numbers seem high, it is not that easy to get into

This is a good take. A good example is the CFA exams. Both Level 1 and Level 2 have pass rates of about 35%-40%, but Level 2 is significantly harder because the pool is only people that passed L1.
Same with B-School admissions – most people that know they’re not getting into HBS are not wasting time putting in applications to go to HBS.
Instead, they’re putting in applications to Uncle D for us to turn them down, letting us keep our “more selective than Harvard status” intact. (Sorry, had to.)

Wharton seems a little high, I would have thought ~10%. Might include executive MBAs?

Adjusted for feedback: admit rates are approx ~14-17%
All of the steps cost a lot and take effort- GMAT, application fees, interviewing (in person), campus visits. You can’t compare it to colleges where there’s a common app, many people don’t pay application fees, and almost everyone of a certain economic class and higher applies. Most people applying for MBA will have to pay an application fee for each school so there’s less just applying when you know you don’t have good odds. The exceptions are probably high name recognition places like Harvard and Stanford. I would venture that the average scores in their application pool are lower than the other top 10 schools.
It is self selected people so acceptance rate of 20% doesn't mean that if 100 random people apply for the school 20% will be admitted. It means out of 100 people who thought they got shot at a school, only 20 actually got what it takes.
screenshots are cool.

I'm offended
I can't believe I'm not as exclusive as I thought I was.

Extremely high self-selection
For comparison, Harvard, Yale, Princeton's undergrad acceptance rates are around ~6%
Not every applicant is equal. Plus yield is more important. A lot of the top schools have to compete for the top candidates.
I don’t see Deloitte at top 5 🧐 #fakenews
Harder to get into Deloitte than any of these places WOOOOOOO!
Most surprised Anderson is ranked so high
Way easier than undergrad
