It shocks me (pun intended) when people hire an electrician for 5x the price of a normal handyman to simply change an outlet or switch. I understand the importance of getting someone who knows what they’re doing but man my neighbor just spent $3k to change 30 outlets. My local handyman would do it for $1k and a red bull. Folks - use your local handyman. No need for an electrician to do things that you can do yourself.

I was hired to work on one account as the only writer. Told they’re handing me another account (or they may hire another writer). I need and want more responsibility and $$. How to negotiate??

Waitlisted at UVA Darden, accepted to a MS IT Management.

Previous military so I have a GI Bill to burn through. I'm waitlisted at Darden's EMBA and accepted to a 1-yr MS IT Management program.

My thought is that if I don't get off the waitlist, I can do the MS MIT this year then the EMBA next year. My mentor thinks the MS MIT might pigeon-hole me into the tech-only world and be redundant if I'm going to go on to get the EMBA.

I'm starting my first year consulting on an IT contract in June.
