I’ve been a litigator for the past 5 years and I despise being an attorney at this point. Any recommendations for any other types of work, or does anyone know of anyone hiring?

Try to go corporate. Has its own baggage but better than fighting every day

like

Try to go to a smaller firm that has some transactional practice, like real estate. You can learn some transactional basics there and then leverage the lit+transactional experience to jump somewhere with more corporate exposure.

Not sure of applicable non-attorney jobs. If you learn of something please post about it. As for other legal sectors: Government can be nice, but the pay is usually bad, so unless you have a partner with a decent income it requires a significant adjustment in lifestyle. If you are female, the problem with corporate is the sexism… especially in tech.

What’s a good LA or NY business litigation firm and salary to expect? I’m a 2yr with quite frankly a lot of experience across civ rights, PI, excessive force, wrongful death, employment defense, K dispute, corp. structure dispute, professional licensure. Write every kind of brief, appeals, argue motions, take depos. Am the only associate working directly under partner on all cases. In house or M&A/Real Estate Transactional are likely the end goal but want to get the litigation out of me first.

I’m so miserable every day is painful. I want to go tell pre-law school me it’s not worth the debt because you will hate this career and then feel trapped by the debt. And then I want to come back to present day, quit this life-leeching, soul-sucking job and start over doing something else entirely. Too much? Oh well. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
