I’ve been asked to help a CEO launch a LinkedIn newsletter as another way to connect with their audience. Do people actually read LinkedIn newsletters? Do you subscribe to any?

I haven’t explored them much myself and the format feels a little clunky, so I’d love tips from anyone who’s made one work. What drives engagement vs. getting ignored?

Launched a LinkedIn newsletter at my last work and it out-performed some of our main, established e-comms. Obviously not a blanket guarantee, but worth running as a pilot, if you have the structure in place to support regular publication.

A newsletter can help with visibility and engagement, but only if it’s positioned differently from short-form posts or long-form articles (i.e. a newsletter would be sharing a leader's unique POV, original insights, and practical takeaways for your target audience) and you’re disciplined about scope and cadence (monthly is best practice to sustain cadence/interest). Definitely wouldn’t recommend unless you’re confident it’s sustainable. The juice is not worth the squeeze otherwise.

like

Hmm giving me a lot to think about. Right now its a lot of content recycling to draw to their new business, its not necessarily new POV (considering i'm literally ghost writing for them too lol).

The juice imo is worth the squeeze potentially. They have a very captive audience-- average 100k impressions weekly and 7k+ profile views weekly. I just need to rethink how this can become useful for them and will suggest going to monthly possibly. I've been doing it weekly for about 10 weeks now and its tough to write that much new content for them week over week.

LinkedIn articles have SEO value! They can rank in SERPs and get cited in AI overviews.

Ohhhh. 💡💡 now thats helpful!! Will take that into consideration now as I write these.

LinkedIn activity, even a newsletter, is a great way to drive engagement and signal that you’re active in your market. It also helps demonstrate industry knowledge and genuine interest in the work you do. I think it's a great idea.

like

I definitely think there is an appetite for it, especially depending on the industry and whether or not your CEO is respected in your line of work. I'm subscribed to a few but I mostly skim them, to be honest. I'd say the engagement has as much to do with your CEO as a subject matter expert as it does the actual topic of the newsletter.

like

Agree 100% i need to get theirs down to skimmable but interesting.

like

I think it can work, but keep it to quarterly or monthly. I think people underestimate the lift. How frequent were you going to do it?

like

They are asking me to do it weekly but this is really good feedback from everyone here to push for monthly.

All content directed towards LinkedIn can increase a professional's authority and visibility. Yes, LinkedIn's audience seeks depth and more targeted information. Material on LinkedIn is important for personal marketing and future connections.

like

Newsletters can be engaging depending on the contents , the audience geared towards. Every newsletters has it up and down. Apply agile style get feedbacks and navigate the traffic, monthly isn’t the style for this century , forthrightly I would say is , too much of information are just for the bin without a deeper glance. Good luck cos there’s no harm in trying

This type of extremely toxic environment affects us for years and sometimes it’s hard to recover.

like

Nope. I do not.

Care to elaborate?

FWIW I definitely think there's an opportunity. The metrics on their page are insane-- 100k+ weekly impressions, 7k+ profile views per week. Clearly they have a captivated and interested audience.

Copywriter with serious imposter syndrome at new job! How do senior writers up their game? Was in-house 1.5 years and underpaid in NYC. With only previous freelance experience (and nonprofit and grant writing before that) figured I had to slog through it for years. Cut to now, 6 months into a new copywriting role at huge tech company. My salary almost quintupled overnight. I think I’m doing great, but that depends on the day and who I work with (no other writers by the way).
