Time for an MBA
If you think so…
So I didn’t get to discuss it in a timely manner. But it’s been festering inside me. I like the gig and team, it’s a much needed gig as it’s followed a dry spell. I even had a choice of this vs another (lower paying) gig. I’ve spent time revisiting labor law so I know I’m in the right to bill those hours in spite of their policy. But this has the potential to be a long relationship and I don’t want to wear out my welcome. I want to be prepared how to answer it if questions arise. But when it’s a policy, even so much as written down!, one can be barking up the wrong tree…not like I have power to change it. It seems more agencies are trying to do this too. Fwiw the gig is as a w2, remote, and in the pharma space.
Only you can make the call but you can always fall back on the fact that they’re not just paying for your time but your availability. If you need to be available for 8 hrs a day, you bill that. On the other hand, if they give you the flexibility to respond to feedback and make changes whenever works in your schedule, probably don’t. Next time, you’ll likely want to raise this when negotiating your contract when you see that paperwork come in. Maybe you can push for a day rate over hourly, since hourly always ends up getting nitpicked.
Thanks. Yeah “freelancing” for Rx ad agencies is not a free schedule like my 1099 gigs. They want availability and yet don’t want to pay for it
