Does anyone have experience interviewing with Deloitte Internal Services? I had my final interview a week and a half ago, and received positive feedback throughout. The hiring manager had positive things to say and mentioned they hoped to make a decision by the end of last week. It’s now Friday the week after. The role still shows as “Interviews in Process.” We did discuss potential start dates, but no salary. Any experience with receiving offers for an internal services role? Is this common?

You lost that battle, either settle in for the war and start forming your strategy or withdraw (i.e. leave). I would probably start looking because you seem emotionally connected to the decision that was made
My working and collaborating style is more
finding the common ground and working together to find a solution, and my former peer’s working style is more just do it before everyone agrees. I feel I have to change how I work to get ahead, but I’m not sure I’m aligned with how my peer operates.
Was recently in the same situation as the OP and agree with M1. I stuck to my game plan and work style and out performed and after 8 months we did a re-org and I got promoted (with no raise :/ ) to his level. At least I don’t report to my former boss who I always bugged heads with anymore though.
TLDR: Out work them to inspire your company to change things or just find a new opportunity.
I had something similar happen in early 2021, and the worst part was that I had been told by my leader that I would be promoted into the role… only to see my peer promoted instead (and made my boss). There were no interviews and the promotion was political (peer who got it worked at HQ, I worked at another office in another part of the country and was not able to relo). Ultimately, I decided to take advantage of the job market and began interviewing immediately, left less than 3 months later. My new job has more money, better benefits, and better flexibility. I miss my old company culture and wonderful colleagues but leaving was absolutely the right decision for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This happened to me and the guy the got promoted was a total bull shitter who didn’t actually know anything but played politics. They wanted me to manage the team AND do the strategy stuff but I pushed back asking what he was going to do now there are so many layers and I didn’t have bandwidth to do both. They forced him to do the strategy stuff. He ended up leaving bc of the pressure and they told me they regretted the decision, offered it to me but I had already accepted another offer. Ask questions, force answers. But also be prepared to leave. They expect this with reorgs.
If you get layered, leave.
