Realizing that at the end of the day, performance is down to who likes you as a person.

I’ve been working for 3 years and noticed that if you like someone as a person, everything annoying or wrong they do, you brush to the side as a quirk. But if you don’t like them, it’s amplified as incompetence and flaws.

I started a new job last monday; this is my first corporate job after college. My senior manager ( my manager’s manager) scheduled a 1:1 with me on Friday and she expects me to have questions.

My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. But then, I learned that those same coworkers had been put back to 5 days because they were deemed “essential“. I felt foolish and decided to stop working on fridays. I’ll go first- I’ll tell myself to not overshare, especially to the manager. People will generally make an image of you and judge you on basis of that even if you have changed a lot.
