I’ve been in FP&A for six years and just realized I don’t want to move into management. I like the work, not the politics. But I’m starting to feel stuck like the only way to progress is to become a people manager. I know I’m good at what I do, I just don’t want to spend half my day in meetings about meetings. Is it actually possible to grow a career in finance without going the leadership route?

Has anybody had any luck with Mondo? I feel like they’re good at sending out emails but have never been contacted by anyone even for a screener. Are they just taking our data?

Hello! Has anyone ever built a campus recruiting structure for a company? Meaning they started from scratch and built out campus recruitment? What was the pros and cons? Also, what was your salary, how long did you stay there and did you enjoy building this out?

Recruiter for big tech company reached out on LinkedIn about a role. I asked about ballpark compensation numbers and they said they’re only comfortable sharing on a live call. Replied that I often receive LinkedIn offers for roles of paycuts around 30-50% so I want to make sure we’re in the same rough range. Recruiter again said she would only share via live call. Is this a red flag?

Does anyone work at at Merrill Lynch as a Life services relationship consultant? Any info on the pay?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?

Currently interviewing for an Associate Partner role with New York Life. I have 15 years experience in financial services. What should I be asking for when it comes to salary. The range they give is $60k-$160k base, not including bonuses.

If i haven’t signed anything with my firm regarding repaying them for receiving my series 7 license with them I’m assuming i owe nothing if i leave? Is there a way to find out without my manager knowing I’m looking at other firms?
