Anyone go down this path ? Ive had plenty of experience but it hasn’t really been my primary domain. Have worked in pretty strict environments which have really helped me understand policy, compliance, etc. Anyone have any tips ? How much time would you think it’d take me to achieve this with moderate study ?

CISSP is probably the best (most appreciated/recognized) security certification but you need 4 years security work experience (5 if no college degree). I’d recommend 1-2 months of serious self-study; it’s a ton of material particularly if you don’t have a lot of security experience Can you also try to shift project work? Maybe start with infrastructure security type work and that gets your foot in the door for other security roles.

Both have some form of experience requirements, but the CISSP is more general and covers the experience requirements for CCSP. You should find an existing CISSP to do your accreditation rather than leaving it to ISC2... The Sybex CISSP study guide is pretty good and covered everything in the exam. Add in the Transcender for some exam practice too and you should be OK. After passing the exam, it can take 6+ weeks to get certified...
