I think hotels is another one kind of like airlines where people have a strong loyalty to one or another. Like Marriott versus Hilton. I'm a Marriott person, so I will go out of my way to make sure I stay at one of their properties so I can get points
Great point! I feel like with ride-share apps, I mainly go for the one that’s cheaper or closer at the moment. While loyalty programs like Uber's rewards are nice, they don't outweigh convenience or cost for me. But for airlines, I’m definitely loyal because the points actually help with upgrades!
i usually price check between uber and lyft if i have the time, but i did get free lyft pink from one of my credit cards. i liked the service so much that i signed up for a discounted 2nd year. for whatever reason i like lyft a lot more - the UI, the drivers cars seem slightly better, and with pink the cost is usually on par or less than uber. i also like that they operate the citi bikes so those are free/discounted with pink.
