I’ve been unemployed for about a month and have applied to 30+ positions through Indeed and company career sites.

Ten years ago, I’d follow up on jobs I was interested in with a phone call or in-person visit, and it seemed to help. With today’s online hiring process and ATS systems, I’m not sure that’s still effective.

Has anyone had success following up by phone after applying, or is networking the better use of your time? I’d love to hear what’s actually working in today’s job market.

I'm looking to join a gym but I would love to find one where I don't have to deal with overly cheery staff. I'm really wanting a gym that I can access with a keycard at any time and not have to deal with anyone and if I could sign up online without having to take a tour and hear the sales pitch, that would be amazing.
