I've been watching these pet grooming videos on YouTube and wonder, have any animals been saved by a groomer noticing a problem and referring the family to a vet?

I have 3 years working as a receptionist in the same clinic and until now I haven't come across one of those cases, I don't know if it really happens.

Absolutely! One time we received a Labrador Retriever with a lump on its chest that a groomer noticed. That the lump was an abscess and could have been deadly if left untreated any longer. Thankfully, because of the groomer, the lab was saved!

Yes, animals have been saved by the efforts of groomers! For example, before I worked at the clinic, a local pet groomer noticed that a dog had a lump while grooming and referred the family to a vet. The vet determined that the lump was cancerous and the dog's life was ultimately saved thanks to the careful attention of the groomer.

A groomer in Florida was recently credited with saving not only a single dog’s life, but the life of more than ten dogs when they noticed an abnormal mark on their skin. Long story short, thanks to the groomer noticing that little weird mark, ten dogs were found on precarious conditions on the owners property, and later treated and relocated to caring families

Yes they can but mostly only superficial stuff like skin rashes, external wounds, or abnormal lumps or cysts, They can't really diagnose anything but they can certainly notice stuff that shouldn't be there

This happens all the time, though some groomers are better at speaking up than others. Groomers often have the experience to notice issues early on that many pet owners don't know are a problem. Lots can be uncovered after a good groom as well, especially if the animal has long hair.

Do you stay in a peoject you think you'll learn despite the demand of the job and abundance of your other current projects?

FYI have a current health issue that limits my working hours so am not sure how this'll work but I was thinking of learning from this experience.

Currently going through some negations on an internal role. I’m currently at 88k and they offered me 100k for a position that requires a lot more work. Do you guys think it’s easier to land a higher salary when applying externally rather than internally? Also this is for a territory sales management role. They stated 120k+ is extremely high for that role. What do you guys think? Playing the game?

How do you address pay discrepancies? I just found out a VT hired a year after me, with less experience, is making $2 more an hour. She was hired when they were desperate for staff which I’m guessing is why, but I’ve felt bitter ever since finding out.

Unpopular opinion: as a vet, I can assure animals can be as mean as human beings, they just can't speak up for you to know. And they also have the power to dislike you.

Hi everyone, I’m seeking some advice - my dog (8yrs old) was attacked several months ago by another dog and after she became depressed and anxious. We got her anti depression meds and those seemed to help but how a lot now a lot of signs are pointing to a potential brain tumor. To get an MRI is +1k. My mom doesn’t want to spend money but it just hurts me so much to see the behavior - she walks around in constant circles, looks sad, seizures, hides under the bed. Any advice would be appreciated.

I need help. I think I’m being underpaid at my job I’ve been at for 3 1/2 years. I’m a full time receptionist for a veterinary hospital but I also manage the reception area (I answer all questions and if someone makes a mistake I’m the one the fix it) and am an in house trained veterinary assistant but can do a techs job (unlicensed) and I do help the technicians out anytime they need and I’m only getting paid $13 an hour while a crew member at arbys gets paid $15 . What should I do ?

Veterinary tech here. I don't know many others who wouldn't complain about taking work home but honestly I feel like I would be willing to pay people to watch their puppies for the weekend, I love my job

I’ve noticed an increase in clients discussing breeding their pets. Animals that, IMO, definitely should not be bred. What do you say to encourage the client to reconsider?
