That's a lousy situation. You'd think people would understand that business is business, whether you're renting cameras or doing whatever else. Skills should be transferrable. It is, however, a pretty awful job market at present, so that may also be a major factor. A lot of places seem to be hesitant to hire anyone, especially as people have serious concerns about a potential recession.
First of all, that’s awful. I don’t know about you, but the thought of leaving this industry for something else feels extra painful. I’m guessing you’ve already thought of this, but have you considered checking with other equipment rental companies? Like tool/heavy equipment/landscaping/trucking, etc?
I feel like good rental companies in other industries would operate in a similar way and would be more inclined to see the similarities in mindset and skills?
