You are in your 30s. Why are your parents telling you what to do? If your goal is to go somewhere where CPA would be helpful get it. If not, don’t.
The path to CPA is long, stressful, and expensive. Only do it if you want to, you are the only one on that journey. Very easy for those outside to say “Just do it”
My managerial accouting professor, who has a PhD in finance told students she failed one of her 4 CPA exams on her first writing. The grueling CPA exams have a less than half pass rate for the first attempt. Many accounting jobs do not require CPA designation.
One of my professors had a PHD and never was able to pass the CPA Exam. College does not prepare you for the CPA Exam.
I agree with the others. I did take the CPA exam when I graduated from college and never passed it. I always regret that I didn't continue to pursue it. It will definitely help you in the future but it is ultimately your decision.
Listen weather you’re in your 20s, 30s or 40s. Having something to back you up as a degree/certificate of completion is essential. You may or may not needed. It’s always BEST to stay ready so you wont have to get ready. If your parents are insisting, then they must believe in you that you have the potential in adquiering something that in the long run could potentially benefit you. Think about it.
