I’ve been working with a startup for 2 months as a UX Designer - they are so unorganized so I’m wondering how I can show my process in a case study when they aren’t keeping track of metrics or KPIs or anything else because they are moving so fast. Any advice?

I would also add that real design jobs don’t follow process perfectly - it’s rare to perfectly get the research, data, or metrics you need to tell your case study exactly how you want. The situation you’re in is likely one you’ll bump into again. You can use this to show design maturity and expertise in your case studies by highlighting how you took the challenges presented to you and used what you had to get to the best solution.

As someone who hires designers, I find this makes for a better, more realistic case study when a designer doesn’t walk me through a happy yet unrealistic project in an interview - but instead can speak to the real challenges we all face and how we as designers can tackle them. Highlight how you overcame business constraints and deadlines.

On another note - I would also pose to you that most startups struggle with enough people to do all the work, and how can you help them get those metrics to measure against in the future? Who is handling metrics today? Do they use Google analytics? Ask around, see if a dev will help you write some events...perhaps there’s a way to be the champion for better data.

At my last job we had to cut out user research during the design and implementation phase, and rely mostly on personas and customer interviews that were created during the initial phase of the project.

Fortunately I was mentored by the UX designers on UX principles so when I put the case study in my portfolio I was able to focus on aspects of UX methodology that weren’t purely reliant on user data (ex. Heuristics).

Since I was a UI designer on the team I structured the case study to focus on the development of the product from a design standpoint. It was really difficult to put together because it’s like, where do you start? Make an outline of what you want to show and go from there, that’s how I did it.

Hi everyone,
Does the gap of one month will affect job opportunities or interview calls for IT jobs especially in current market scene?

Hey fishes, completed 3 tech rounds at Bosch.
Last tech + managerial round was on 10th Nov. Got HR call on 17th Nov. Told my expected package and she didn't seem to have any issue. On 22nd Nov, got a call from the consultant at taggd who has been arranging all my interviews. Told my expected CTC and she seemed a bit surprised but didn't negotiate and asked if I have any other offers? I asked when can I expected the OL, she said within a week but didn't take any documents. Can I expect the OL?

Hi Guys,

I have completed my tech interview rounds with UBS and have received email for fitment round.

Can anyone share what happens in this fitment round on interview?
HRs have asked to submit documents even before this fitment round; which seems unusual. Is this normal for UBS and this is how they progress?

Thank you.

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

Team just applied for a TS Clearance (defense agency). Trying to assess if it makes sense to wait till the clearance comes through (6 months to a year?) before I job hop. I'm hoping to get some clarity on the following:
1. Can my company withdraw or cancel my clearance if I leave right after I secure a TS?
2. In terms of compensation, how much value (% compensation) does a TS clearance have in the DC area? Places I'm considering: AWS, Azure, GCP, Data bricks, Appian etc.
Any advice, thanks!

Would love something that allows me to do both?
