I’ve got kids with disabilities, so I’m constantly balancing the need for higher pay (to cover medical and therapy costs) with needing time and mental space to actually be there for them.

Who is also in this predicament? It’s a battle choosing between flexibility and a bigger paycheck. What should I look for in a company that would help with some of this?

Not me, but my cousin. She’s also talked about how it’s hard to have the money to pay for things to help the kids, but then be present for them too. Flexibility, amazing benefits, and a culture that encourages inclusiveness are non-negotiable to her.

That’s where I’m at.

My company allowed me to start working from home last year and it has been a game changer. My social battery is no longer drained from simply being at work. I have more time with my kids and more time to rest. Is working from home an option for you?

like

I’m already working from home actually. It helps because I don’t have to travel. But, I’m in a different time zone than my company. So it’s a bit off with timing. And hours are long because we’re so busy.

Why not try to work as an online agent for the company I work for,the pay is good with flexible hours and you get to be with your cousin, all you need is your mobile gadgets

like

I checked your company’s job postings and haven’t found any remote positions that I might fit. I can keep looking. But any information you have would be great! Thanks

I think some perks like great medical benefits and or work from home flexibility can be even more helpful than comp sometimes

I see those things can be helpful.

Praying for you that you get the pay you need Godbless you and you children

Hi.. I applied for an opportunity in UBS which I saw in Linkedin around 10-12 days back and I did receive a kind of automated email for online assessment. I took the assessment but post that I didn't hear anything. I see that job in linkedin is still accepting applications.

What shall I conclude from this? Is my profile not shortlisted for interview or they usually took many applications and then decide who shall be called for interview?
What is the approach?

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

Does anyone have suggestions for what a salary should be for a Digital Marketing Analyst | Paid Social & Performance Media? I have 1 year of experience, the job asks for 0-1 year of experience. I feel I over meet the qualifications in some areas and just meet them in others. The recruiter said 50k is the salary the company is offer. I know I can negotiate. What are your thoughts on what the salary should be?

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). How do I approach this with my boss as I’m not sure she’s aware I’m actually technically a junior? Revolving around asking for a move up + raise
