First-gen grad students, does your family put pressure on you to succeed? It feels like our relationship is them just bugging me about my work. I’d love some advice, I miss my fam.

Does anyone have any advice/tips for helping a spouse or SO who is suffering from depression and anxiety. My SO has made the commitment to speak with a doctor but the appointment isn’t for another two weeks and they are really struggling right now. I’ve never dealt with this before and want to be as supportive as possible.

I travel for one week and when I get back my kids are telling me my wife was threatening to send them all to boarding school in Alaska while I was gone since.

Going back to normal is going to take some getting used to..

I’m currently at a director level of a large research program in academia and oversee operations. Prior to that I was a clinical research coordinator with extensive trial experience from study startup-close out. I’m not sure what level would be a good transition step and open to new roles/opportunities as well.
