Job interviewers love to ask about hobbies and interests. I feel so silly not having a good answer for them. Truth is, I don't have any hobbies, and I feel judged when I can't answer this question. How should I dodge this question without making things in the interview weird?

5+ years of full-time job as developer and still waiting to reverse a LinkedList at work.

Since there is a heavy impetus on solving Tree, LinkedList, and Graph problems for tech interviews, it can naturally make freshers believe that these concepts will be used in day-to-day life at work. In reality, most of these DSA concepts are already implemented in some libraries our code uses and we rarely have to code such Algorithms by hand.

Hey everyone! I’m interviewing for an HR Generalist role at a Fintech company, this will be their first HR hire and will be reporting to the CFO. I got invited to a second round interview to meet the team to ensure that it’s a good culture fit. I would love to know any thoughts on what I should ask or do to ensure that I am great fit. I left a good impression on the CFO but would to see what else so can do when meeting with the team since it’ll be a 2.5 hour meet up. I’m really excited!

How did you deal with bad impostor syndrome when applying for jobs even though you know you are more than qualified?

It is in appropriate to ask what the compensation for a position is after a first interview if they want you to go on three more and the interviewers on my first told me that was above their pay grade to tell me?????

Seems kind of ridiculous for a business to want to waste so much time to find out after a handful of interviews that the pay isnt aligned with my needs ......

I can see in biglaw not bringing up knowing damn well if you get an offer itll likely be high, but this is a midsize

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

I’m in big law and on the cusp of making the jump to in-house. It sounds like the company I just interviewed with is getting ready to make me an offer. It’s definitely going to be a pay cut coming from big law but I do get some nice equity in the company. Is the jump worth it? Hi all! Is anyone here in Underwriting? Just want some thoughts on this as i’ve recently gotten an offer for an Underwriting Associate position and have never done any salary negotiations before. Does it seem unrealistic for my counter offer to be 12k more than the original offer? Considering that the original offer is roughly 8k less than the market salary. I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
