I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.
I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.
Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Weird they would ask for a school transcript when you’ve been working for 5 years. Background checks usually cover education so if they are basing hiring you off of college grades is pretty stupid at this point in time
They probably got in trouble because someone lied about having a college degree so they need to close some loopholes. They don't care about the grades just the degree and maybe some specific coursework.
I had a job (hedge fund) ask for my GPA and transcripts from college. I graduated 17 years ago. It’s not relevant now.
Going out on a limb and saying that was D.E. Shaw.
I always pass on jobs that ask for this.
Gpa and grades don't factor in growth after college or outside impact to grades. Its static and not a good measure of a candidate. I had great grades but did horrible in my first job.
My current company requested mine. I'm a high school dropout with a GED. They couldn't care less about the grades, it was more for the background check and tracking demographics to keep biases in check.
That is one way they can verify your education. Also if you apply to positions that require a certain GPA they want to look at your grades and GPA on the transcript. Positions that usually ask for transcripts for GPA reasons are investment banking, private equity, hedge fund, corporate development, venture capital, and other lucrative areas of finance at elite finance companies especially when it comes to post MBA positions. They may also want to see your test scores like the GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT in addition to your GPA.
Portfolio Manager 1 I am a rainmaker for Goldman Sachs. That is what a Managing Director is suppose to do for a company. If a Managing Director is not a rainmaker then their job is at risk.
Just remember (at least for your first few years) the interview/hiring process is the best they’re gonna treat you. If something rubs you the wrong way get out of doge
So damn true
I would still apply and if for some dumb reason they ask about it just explain how you’ve been able to excel at the more relevant recent job experience you have. Hopefully that knocks that out of the way. On the other note I just got asked for ACT and SAT grades for a senior analyst position requiring two years of experience so that threw me for a whirl 😂.
Colleges aren't requiring standardized tests these days so why would an employer?
I just don’t apply to roles that ask that tbh. I graduated back in 2014. Been working since then. Worry more about my employment history than my political science classes from 10+ years ago.

Under 3.5 GPA?
Great people
If you want the job apply. Wait for them to explain about the transcript submission.
I want to work from home because traffic has gone from 20 min drive 70 min drive one way. Where can I apply that will allow for WFH and still make at least 27
Probably a very competitive position like investment banking. I wouldn't apply. As a hiring manager, there's too many qualified applicants for high demand positions so we need to filter futher down with the GPA criterion.
That company doesn’t care what your grade point average is when you’ve been out of school for over 5 years working. They likely want to confirm you went to school. I wouldn’t sweat it one bit
Need to finsh

I’d apply if you think the position is a good fit for your career goals. If they knock you out of the competion for poor grades after 5+ years experience it’s no harm done but if you don’t apply you will never know.
