My parents have very poor credit scores (<600). What’s a quick way to get this up? They recently paid back all debt but only have one credit card. Outside of paying back on time, should they open a new account to increase credit line / lower % of credit used? What options are best to quickly improve credit scores

Opening a new card helps to raise the limit by expanding total credit > lower utilization, but is a hard check and lowers history. They can also update income with their holder and call to ask if they can raise their credit limit on their current card with that info without it being a hard check. (Chase is, most others aren’t)

Paying on time *the full balance due* is important.

Open a new credit card and make on time payments on it too

I think that if you give them a card in your account, (assuming you have excellent credit) it can improve their score.

Put them as authorized users on your card. Same as you could do for your kids when they are old enough. Check with the card issuer to make sure this will help credit for the user. It should for most

I think living a frugal life and aiming to retire early makes a lot of sense.

Recently, some of my family members are diagnosed with a rare diseases. When you look at the statistics, these are so many of these ‘rare’ conditions and cumulatively they are not rare.

These family members conditions made me reevaluate how I want to spend my life. I am 35 this year and I can’t decide if I should take great vacations with my kids or keep living a frugal life. Do you have the same dilemma?
